Within the framework of the Comprehensive Amazon Program for Forest Conservation and Sustainable Production (PROAmazonía), the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) and the Ministry of Environment (MAE) invite indigenous communities, peoples and nationalities from the cantons of Francisco de Orellana, Shushufindi, Morona, Taisha and Nangaritza, as well as their NGO, GAD and university allies to present summaries of their proposals for promoting bio-enterprises in order to obtain non-reimbursable financing.
The competitive fund is aimed at small-scale bio-enterprises that make sustainable use of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) from natural or restored forests, including adjacent agroforestry areas (chakras, ajas, etc.), which constitute economic alternatives for reducing deforestation and forest degradation and improving conservation and sustainable forest management capacity.
How to apply for the funds?
Applications may be submitted until July 20, 2019. No proposals will be received after the specified time.
Some examples of bio-enterprises that could benefit from these funds are: handicrafts made from seeds, bark, fiber; palm oil, essential plant oils; natural soap; bamboo products or fibers; ecological tourism; jams, pulp, sweets, cookies made from farm or aja products; honey and processed products.
The invitation excludes conventional agricultural products such as coffee, cocoa, palm and cattle.
